We’ve made good progress on the demolition work at Baker cottage on the Laura Baker Services campus. This work involves a complete renovation of this residential unit to accommodate new housing needs. Everything on the interior of the building is being removed….walls, doors, ceilings, floors, windows, etc. We end up with a very solid shell structure to put things back together in the new configuration.

One of the biggest parts of the job is removing the existing concrete floor. We cut it at the permimeter and then cut it into pieces about five feet square. Cutting the floor like this involves some cost for diamond blades and machinery, but doing so makes it possible to handle and remove the floor in short order. Since we are not creating new door openings into the building, we need to limit demolition materials to just over five feet in width to get them out of the building.
