Our carpenters have moved along nicely with our West side addition project. Last week the roofing was installed. This house has eave returns on the gable ends so we replicated those returns. They are a fussy detail to replicate, but they look very nice on the project. We matched the cornice trim moldings. This roof also has a flared lower edge which we matched. The roof pitch changes on the lower 30″ of the roof.
After the roofing was completed we installed the exterior building wrap and the new windows. On this project we used Marvin Windows so they would be a good match to the existing double hung window units. I ordered the Marvin windows with a ‘Cadet Gray’ exterior which matches well with the existing window paint finish. The new Marvin windows have clad exteriors and will not need painting.
