We just completed a small project for a client, but one that will be greatly appreciated. The existing side entry door on the house was set about 14″ below grade at the stair landing. This of course allowed water to flow into the little area well, and up against the door—and into the house. The big rains of earlier this summer inundated the homeowner. We removed the old decayed door, poured a new 14″ high section of foundation wall, and installed a new door. Then to give a better protection to the door we constructed the small roof shown in the photo. It makes a nice side entry now that will not gather water.
