We are just about finished up with our office expansion project. The painters are completing the wood finishing and wall painting. We used a couple of accent colors with the main wall color being a sandtone. In the toilet rooms we used fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) panels for the lower 4′ of the wall. FRP is incredibly tough and easy to clean. It continues with the ‘industrial’ look of the office building. The structural roof trusses have been varnished and will be left exposed
We have nice bright windows in the offices. Over the years we’ve made window order mistakes on our projects from time to time. Rather than pay a big restocking charge I often retain the mistake windows. Sometimes we work them into projects. In this case all the windows are either new ‘mistake’ windows or nearly new salvaged windows. They worked out very nicely. Some offices have what we call ‘slit’ windows which creates nice lighting but still alows for shelves to be placed on the walls. I’ve got a mix of Pella, Marvin and Andersen window units in the buildings so our clients can see all three major manufacturers products in use.
The mechanical room is packed full of the air handling equipment, floor heating equipment, water softener and communications equipment. No matter how big a room like this is made it always seems to get chocked full of equipment!
