Last Friday evening Ellen and I attended the 2008 Excellence in Construction dinner in Golden Valley. This event is sponsored by the Minnesota Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) and was held at the Metropolitan Ballroom in Golden Valley. Associated Builders and Contractors, with over 50 years experience, is the largest open shop construction trade association in the United States.
This dinner event recognizes and honors building contractors that constructed buildings in 2008 that met specific requirements of ABC. Projects from all across the state are reviewed by a panel of judges to see how safety, environmental and energy issues, quality, and design are combined to provide owners with an excellent products. Northfield Construction was pleased to receive an honorable mention for commercial projects in the $1 to $5 million range for the First National Bank-South building in Northfield. Guth Electric, another ABC member, was recognized for providing the electrical work on the project.
Another project that received and honorable mention in the same category was the Lakeville Municipal Liquor Store on Galaxy Street. Northfield Construction provided carpentry services for this project that was constructed using construction management services by Greystone Construction.
Our keynote speaker at the dinner was Senator Norm Coleman. Mr. Coleman has been a consistent and true supporter of business growth in Minnesota and the nation. It was great to hear his thoughts on our economic situation in America….as well as his comments about the Senate election contest that is underway.
