We’ve completed the interior wall construction at the Baker Cottage on the Laura Baker Services campus. The interior walls are mainly constructed using steel framing with a heavy, damage resistant gypsum finish. That has worked out well in providing a very durable wall surface. To differentiate this gypsum material from standard materials it has a purple color to the surface—making for an interesting looking construction site! As in the previous project at Elwell Cottage, we have returned the gypsum finish into the window jambs. I like the clean look that creates and is a surface that is easy to clean and maintain, as well as letting lots of light into the rooms.

The exterior of the building has had all the brickwork for the new and relocated window openings completed. Now that the weather is decent we will soon install the cement plaster finish on portions of the building.
