The floor has been completely removed from our Baker cottage project at Laura Baker Services. We cut the floor into 5’x 5′ pieces so we could maneuver them out the existing doorway. Despite handling large, heavy pieces of concrete the work went quickly and without incident. The plumbers have been working in the building for the past couple of days installing the new underground waste piping system. They also relocated the water service so it is in the new mechanical room.

We have started work preparing the window openings. Some openings have to be enlarged and others closed up. When the opening needs to be enlarged we remove existing masonry material and install new steel support lintels. This work goes somewhat slowly as we fill block cores to provide a solid bearing point for the new steel lintels. For openings that are closed up we fill them with steel framing and fire resistive sheathing.
